Used for urban drainage and the management of large volumes of rainwater

THE PROBLEM

The significant climate changes and massive urbanisation that our region has undergone in recent years have highlighted the inadequacy of our rainwater drainage networks, dramatically increasing the hydraulic and hydrological risk across our entire region.

Screenshot 2025-05-20 alle 18.33.36.png

CLIMATE CHANGE

These are two extreme phenomena linked to the water cycle, which are becoming increasingly frequent and intense due to climate change and human activity.

Low rainfall and rising temperatures lead to the depletion of water reserves, with devastating consequences for the environment and human activities.

Floods, on the other hand, are caused by violent and abundant rainfall, which can swell rivers to the point of overflowing, destroying infrastructure, contaminating water and endangering people's safety.

Screenshot 2025-05-20 alle 18.33.46.png

URBANISATION

The rapid growth of global urbanisation has led to changes in land management and the natural course of water.

Water is lost due to leaks in water networks and, above all, due to the dramatic increase in surface runoff, often with a negative impact on the supply and quality of water resources.

The principles of hydraulic and hydrological invariance were developed in response to these problems and their consequences for rainwater management.

The aim of these principles is to reduce the impact of changes to the territory on the natural dynamics of water runoff, preventing.

THE SOLUTION

Starplast designs and manufactures its new sustainable urban drainage system with drain blocs. Innovative, modern and durable, it allows for the management of large volumes of rainwater, with the following applications:

DRAINING SYSTEM

in case of hydrogeological invariance

Cell system entirely wrapped in geotextile that collects rainwater and returns it to receiving water bodies (rivers, aquifers) in a controlled manner, regulating it in order to:

Ⓥ optimise groundwater recharge

Ⓥ manage overflow tanks where water can be controlled and drained to areas far from receptors

Screenshot 2025-06-03 alle 15.01.43.png

MIXED SYSTEM

infiltration and lamination

If drainage needs to be ensured on soil with poor permeability and, at the same time, excess water needs to be sent to the receptor at a controlled flow rate, it is possible to equip inPluvio completely wrapped with geotextile and calibrated pipe. In this case, controlled flow will be guaranteed through the calibrated pipe or lift pump to the surface watercourse/sewer, while at the same time ensuring soil permeability.

Ⓥ minimum aquifers recharge maintenance

Ⓥ controlled discharge into watercourses, avoiding the risk of flooding

Screenshot 2025-06-03 alle 15.03.10.png

LAMINATIONS BASINS

for hydraulically invariant storage systems

If the subsoil is not suitable for infiltration, it is advisable to accumulate the water and then release it into the receiving bodies, discharging it

over time, using the inPluvio system, completely wrapped first with geotextile, then with HDPE geomembrane and externally again with geotextile.

Rainwater spreads evenly inside the cells, where it is temporarily collected and then released in a regulated manner through a calibrated pipe, possibly with a motorised valve or lifting pump.

The inPluvio system, intended for accumulation and lamination, must be sealed, waterproof and watertight in order to:

Ⓥ reduce de size of drainage networks

Ⓥ management over time of runoff generated

by heavy rainfall

WATWER RECOVERY AND REUSE

in case where rainwater needs to be recovered and reused

Water is a precious resource that must be used carefully, avoiding waste and abuse.

Depending on the circumstances, it may be more convenient to collect, store and reuse rainwater rather than allowing it to infiltrate the soil or directing it into the sewer system.

The collcted water can be reused for:

Ⓥ irrigation purposes:

- intensive farming

-gardens and green areas

Ⓥ recovery for industrial non-potable use

or washing car parks/roads

What is the InPluvio system?

It is a system of drain blocs made of injection-moulded polypropylene (PP) plastic, characterised by high mechanical strength. It is designed for urban drainage and the management of large volumes of rainwater.

What is the InPluvio system for?

The InPluvio system is used to store large volumes of water completely underground and release it into the environment in a controlled manner, preventing flooding of roads and waterways. It also aims to recharge aquifers, support vegetation and promote urban sustainability.

How much volume can the InPluvio system accumulate?

The total volume of the plant must be defined according to the regulatory provisions of the region in which it is installed. The storage volume depends on the draining surface, the type of surface and the maximum rainfall expected. It is essential to consult local regulations for hydraulic sizing. The system guarantees a useful volume equal to 96% of the total volume.

Can the InPluvio system be used for rainwater recovery and reuse?

Yes, depending on your needs, it may be convenient to collect, store and reuse the rainwater collected by the InPluvio system rather than allowing it to infiltrate or directing it to the sewer system. The collected water can be reused for irrigation purposes or for non-potable industrial use or washing car parks/roads. In this case, the system must be sealed and waterproof, made with a geomembrane.
